CurioCity
Date: 4-5-6 October
Time: 09.00-18.00
Open to the general public
In addition to the competitions, “CurioCity” enables everyone to gain hands-on experience of vocational skills. Across the entire competition site, no less than 5000 m² will be dedicated to these activities.
About 100 activities will be organised for visitors. They are the fruit of a joint effort involving young students, teachers and the professional sectors. Partners from the world of business also support “Curiocity”.
The activities are based on a common theme: “Young people talking to young people!” because “The future’s in your hands.”
Visitors will be able, for example, to try their hand at welding using simulators, see how professional chefs work, place themselves in the shoes of a construction equipment operator, hairdresser, photographer, bricklayer, truck driver and find out about skills linked to plastics technology. They will also have a chance to learn about the “uniformed skills”, such as the army or fire brigade, which are always on the look-out for people with technical experience.
We will assist at the construction of a “real” house, which will enable visitors to meet professionals and experience the busy life of a construction site.
Events will also be organised in order to showcase skills, using trucks specially equipped for this purpose. The Province of Liège “Technitruck”, for example, travels the roads throughout the year, from school to school, and stops at Francorchamps during the competition. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy a short ride in the cabin of a HGV and thus experience how drivers see life from their trucks.
As you can see, “Curiocity” aims to be an inspirational place. There are different venues on the site, the largest of which can be found in the 5 marquees located behind the “Formula 1” stands, while the others can be found in the middle of the circuit.
We greatly look forward to welcoming you. This will be a unique opportunity for you to share and help others share your experiences and passion for these skills.
